When we made the farm our home this summer there weren’t any fences to speak of. We knew there was some hard work ahead of us because we are making this a working farm. Many trips have been made to Tractor Supply to get supplies to add the 1st of many fences to the property. I was fortunate to get 100 round wood posts on clearance and some Red Brand Field Fencing.
I also purchased a gas powered post hole digger that has spead up the install process, as I'm doing this by myself. Instead of puchasing a fence stretcher, I made my own with some boards, eye-bolts and heavy rated ratching straps. It's not fancy, but being resourceful is important on a farm.
As I’ve been setting the posts, I have noticed some barbed wire here and there because many years ago the land actually supported a farm. If I get the time, I need to do some digging to see if I can find a little history on this place.
